CARPET CALCULATOR
Carpet is sold by the roll.
Area-only calculators multiply length by width and hand you a square footage nobody sells. Carpet comes off a fixed-width roll - 12 ft, 13.5 ft, 15 ft, 4 m - so the real question is how many linear yards to order, where the seams land, and how much of it you are paying for and throwing away.
What you get for one room
Enter the room and the roll width. Every number below comes back at once, and every input stays editable.
What it does
Roll width is a constraint, not a footnote
The roll is a fixed width and the room is not. That single fact is what separates the yardage you order from the area you measured, and it is where every area-only calculator goes wrong.
Warns about T-seams
Some layouts only close with a T-seam, and plenty of carpet cannot take one. The app says so instead of quietly drawing it. Verify pile and pattern with your supplier - it flags the case, it does not overrule the goods.
Feet, inches and sixteenths
A real tape-measure picker, not a decimal box you have to convert into. Metric mode is one switch away for 4 m goods.
Lay direction you choose
Lengthwise, widthwise, or let it pick. The direction changes the seam count and the yardage, so it belongs to you and not to a default.
Jobs, not throwaway sums
Save a room as a named job with the client and its status, then reopen it and re-estimate when the plan changes. Multi-room jobs combine into one roll order. (Pro)
A quote your client can keep
Export a clean PDF or a share-image with the numbers and the layout on it, so the estimate leaves the phone looking like it came from a business. (Pro)
Free and Pro
Free forever: calculating is never blocked or metered, and that includes the seam layout, the T-seam warning and the waste maths on the 12 ft and 4 m roll widths, plus five saved jobs. No paywall before you can see whether the numbers are any good.
Pro adds the other roll widths - 13.5 ft, 15 ft, metric and custom - pattern-repeat alignment, multi-room jobs, unlimited saved jobs and PDF or image quote export. It is $3.99 monthly or $19.99 yearly, or $29.99 once for lifetime. The lifetime option is there on purpose: this trade hates renting a calculator.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and the account is charged within 24 hours before that date. The lifetime purchase never renews. Cancel in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions on iOS, or in Google Play › Payments and subscriptions on Android.
Where your numbers live
On your phone. Rooms, jobs, client names and prices are stored locally and are never uploaded to a CodeEnsis server - there is no account to make and nothing to log into. That also means uninstalling the app deletes the data with it, so export anything you need to keep. Full detail in the Privacy Policy.

The yardage is higher than my square footage suggested
That is the point. A 17 ft room off a 12 ft roll cannot be covered by one strip, so you buy the second strip's full width and cut the rest away. The waste line shows exactly how much you are paying to throw out - change the lay direction and watch it move.
It says my layout needs a T-seam
It means the fill piece meets a seam side-on rather than running the length of the room. Cut pile, patterns and some backings should not be T-seamed at all. Ask your supplier about the specific goods before you commit - the warning exists because a 40-year installer said the apps that skip it are dangerous.
Does it do stairs, halls or L-shaped rooms?
It estimates rectangular rooms, and multi-room jobs add them up into one roll order. Stairs and stringers are not modelled - if that is most of your work, this will only do the flat part of it.
I bought Pro and still see the free limit
