WHO IT IS FOR

One question, asked before you commit.

A flat, a garden bed, a photo spot or a roof: the sun decides how it works out, and the sun is predictable to the minute.

Buying or renting

Check the winter sun on the balcony during the viewing, not after you have signed the lease.

Gardening

Find the corner that gets six hours of sun for tomatoes, and the shady one for ferns.

Photography

Plan golden hour and the sun's position behind a landmark before you travel to the shoot.

Solar panels

A quick look at winter shading on a roof or a balcony rail. An estimate, not a yield calculation.

QUESTIONS

The short version.

How accurate is it?

Sun positions follow the NOAA solar equations, accurate to well under a degree. The AR overlay is limited by your phone's compass, usually a few degrees off. Calibrate it by moving the phone in a figure 8.

Does it need internet?

Only for the address search. GPS, the sun and moon calculations and AR all work offline.

What happens to my location and camera picture?

They stay on your phone. There is no account, no analytics and no ads. The camera picture is only shown on screen and never saved or sent. Details are in the privacy policy.

Is there an iPhone version?

Not yet. SunPlanner starts on Android.
