ALTIMETER

Terms of Service.

Effective: May 30, 2026

The short version. Altimeter is a consumer instrument. Its altitude, heading, and coordinates are helpful estimates - not for aviation, marine, mountaineering safety, or surveying. Your data stays on your device.

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Altimeter mobile application ("Altimeter", "the app"), provided by CodeEnsis Ltd. ("we", "our", "us"), Χριστόδουλου Σώζου 2, EIFFEL TOWER, Floor 3, Flat/Office 301, 1096 Λευκωσία, Κύπρος. By installing, accessing, or using Altimeter you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. License to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Altimeter on devices you own or control, for your own personal use, subject to these Terms and to the rules of the app store from which you obtained it. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by CodeEnsis Ltd.

3. Not for navigation or safety-critical use

Altimeter is a consumer measurement tool. Its readings - including altitude, accuracy estimates, compass heading, magnetic declination, and coordinates - are derived from your phone's sensors and are informational only. They are not certified and must not be relied upon for aviation, marine, or mountaineering safety, for surveying, search-and-rescue, or any situation where an error could cause injury, loss, or damage. Always use certified instruments and official sources for navigation and safety-critical decisions. You use Altimeter's output at your own risk.

4. Accuracy and device sensors

Reading accuracy depends on your device's GPS and (where present) barometric sensor, on weather, and on your surroundings. Barometric altitude is affected by changing air pressure and may require calibration; GPS altitude can drift. Altimeter does not guarantee that any reading is correct, current, or fit for a particular purpose.

5. Your data and backups

Your data is stored locally on your device (see our Privacy Policy). You are responsible for maintaining your own backups and for any tracks or files you export and share. We are not liable for data lost due to device failure, loss, deletion, or app removal.

6. Price

Altimeter is free to download and use. It contains no purchases. Optional crash diagnostics and analytics are off by default and require your consent, as described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to reverse-engineer, decompile, resell, or misuse the app, remove proprietary notices, or use Altimeter in violation of applicable law.

8. Updates and availability

We may release updates, fixes, and new features, and may discontinue features or the app itself at our discretion. Uptime, continued availability, and backward compatibility of any specific feature are not guaranteed.

9. Intellectual property

Altimeter, including its source code, design, name, and logo, is the property of CodeEnsis Ltd. and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. The app uses third-party open-source components subject to their respective licenses, and incorporates the World Magnetic Model, a public data product, for its declination calculation.

10. No warranty

Altimeter is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, or non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We make no warranty that any altitude, heading, or coordinate reading is correct, current, or fit for any particular purpose.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall CodeEnsis Ltd., its officers, employees, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss, injury, or decision made in reliance on Altimeter's output, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the app.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total aggregate liability for any claim shall not exceed ten euro (€10). Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under EU consumer protection law.

12. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless CodeEnsis Ltd. and its affiliates from any claim, loss, liability, damage, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of Altimeter, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights or applicable law.

13. Privacy

Your use of Altimeter is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Nicosia, Cyprus shall have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms, except where mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence grants you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.

15. App store terms

If you obtained Altimeter through Google Play, you also agree to Google's terms. To the extent of any conflict between these Terms and platform terms, platform terms govern with respect to platform-specific obligations.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Altimeter evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated "Effective" date above. Continuing to use Altimeter after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
