Terms of Use.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By installing or using Reef Tank Log ("the app"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please uninstall the app. These terms ("Terms") are between you and CodeEnsis Ltd. ("we", "our", "us"), Χριστόδουλου Σώζου 2, EIFFEL TOWER, Floor 3, Flat/Office 301, 1096 Λευκωσία, Κύπρος.
2. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Reef Tank Log on devices you own or control, for personal or commercial use, subject to these terms and the rules of the app store you downloaded it from (Apple App Store or Google Play).
3. The app is a logbook, not livestock advice
Reef Tank Log records the values you enter and draws them on a chart. Target ranges shown in the app are common hobby reference bands, offered for orientation only. They are not veterinary, chemical or husbandry advice, and they are not tailored to your system.
You remain solely responsible for the decisions you make about your aquarium - dosing, water changes, temperature, and the health of your livestock. Do not rely on the app in place of your own testing, judgement, or professional advice.
Dose reminders are ordinary local notifications. They can be delayed or suppressed by your operating system, by battery-saving modes, or by a device that is off. Never treat a reminder, or the absence of one, as confirmation that a dose was or was not administered.
4. Calculation errors and use at your own risk
Results can be wrong. Reef Tank Log is software, and software has bugs. Errors are possible in its unit conversions, charts, reference ranges and dose tracking, and the reading of imported lab reports, which for PDFs and photos is done by an AI model and can misread a value or an element. A result can be wrong even when every value you enter is correct. We test the app, but we do not and cannot guarantee that any result is free of errors.
Verify final figures before you rely on them. Treat every result as a first estimate. Before you dose, change water or make any other decision about your tank and livestock, check the final figures yourself and confirm them with a repeat test with a calibrated test kit, the original laboratory report and, where in doubt, an experienced aquarist or an aquatic veterinarian. Where money, safety, health or compliance with rules depends on a figure, do not rely on Reef Tank Log alone.
Not professional advice. Nothing in Reef Tank Log is professional, engineering, financial, tax, legal or other expert advice, and using the app does not create a professional or advisory relationship between you and us.
Your own risk. You use Reef Tank Log and act on its results at your own risk and responsibility. If a result looks wrong to you, please tell us at [email protected] so we can correct it.
5. Your content
Your tanks, readings, schedules, livestock entries and notes are yours. We do not claim ownership of your content, and we do not access, view or transmit it - see the Privacy Policy for what stays on your device.
6. Free features and Reef Tank Log Pro
The following are free, with no time limit and no reading cap: one tank, unlimited parameter readings, trend charts, the livestock journal, the maintenance and equipment log, and full backup and restore.
Reef Tank Log Pro unlocks unlimited tanks and dose schedules with reminders. Pro is offered as a monthly subscription, an annual subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase.
Subscriptions. Monthly and annual plans are auto-renewing subscriptions. Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your store account settings: on iOS in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions, on Android in Google Play → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not refund the period already paid for.
Lifetime. The lifetime option is a single, non-recurring purchase. It does not renew and is not a subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies, not by us. We have no ability to issue store refunds directly.
Prices are set per territory by the store and may change. We may change what Pro includes in future versions, but we will not move a feature that is free at the time of your purchase behind the paywall for you.
7. Backups are your responsibility
The app stores your data locally and gives you a one-tap export. We do not hold a copy. If you lose, reset or replace your device without an exported backup, that data is gone and we cannot recover it. Export regularly.
8. Acceptable use
- Do not reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except to the extent permitted by applicable law.
- Do not use the app to violate the rights of others, including privacy, intellectual property, or contractual rights.
- Do not use the app in any way that could damage, disable, or impair our services or any third-party services.
9. Updates and changes
We may release updates to add features, fix bugs, or improve performance. Updates may change or remove features. We are not obligated to maintain any specific feature, format, or behaviour indefinitely.
10. Third-party services
Reef Tank Log uses Google Firebase for analytics and crash reporting, RevenueCat to process in-app purchases, and, only when you import a lab report as a PDF or a photo, a CodeEnsis function on Google Cloud that passes the file to OpenAI to transcribe it. Use of those services is also subject to their own terms and privacy policies. See the Privacy Policy for details.
11. No warranty
Reef Tank Log is provided "as is" and "as available", with all faults and without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness or non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We make no warranty that conversions, charts, reference ranges or values read from a lab report are correct or complete, that a reminder will be delivered at a given time, or that any specific entry will be preserved.
We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that its results will meet your requirements. You assume the entire risk as to the quality, accuracy and use of the app and its results.
If you are a consumer, you may have statutory rights that cannot be excluded by contract, for example the rights that apply in the EU and the UK when digital content does not conform to the contract. Nothing in these Terms limits those rights.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall CodeEnsis Ltd., its officers, employees or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, livestock, corals, equipment, profits or revenue, or for decisions made in reliance on Reef Tank Log's output, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the app.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or related to the app shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) ten euro (€10). These limits apply whatever the legal basis of the claim, including contract, tort (including negligence) and statute, even if we were told such loss was possible.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct where the law does not allow it to be limited, and your rights under mandatory consumer protection law.
13. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless CodeEnsis Ltd. and its affiliates from any claim, loss, liability, damage or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of Reef Tank Log, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights or applicable law.
14. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate access to the app or any specific feature at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms.
15. Privacy
Your use of Reef Tank Log is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Nicosia, Cyprus shall have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms, except where mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence grants you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
17. App store terms
If you obtained Reef Tank Log through the App Store or Google Play, you also agree to Apple's or Google's terms respectively, including Apple's Standard End User License Agreement where it applies. To the extent of any conflict between these Terms and platform terms, platform terms govern with respect to platform-specific obligations (for example, refunds and in-app purchases). Apple and Google are not parties to these Terms and have no responsibility for the app, but each may enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Reef Tank Log evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated "Effective" date above. Continuing to use Reef Tank Log after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
