FIELDRECORDER
Privacy Policy.
1. Who we are
FieldRecorder is an audio recorder published by Codeensis Ltd. ("we", "our", "us"). This policy explains what the FieldRecorder mobile application collects, what it does with that data, and the rights you have.
2. What data FieldRecorder stores — on your device
The following data lives in FieldRecorder's local storage on your phone. It is not transmitted to our servers:
- Audio recordings you create (.m4a files).
- Markers you drop while recording (timestamp, color category, optional note).
- Recording titles, durations, and project assignments.
- Projects you create to organize recordings (name, color).
- Waveform data cached for fast playback rendering.
- App preferences (audio quality, default project, marker categories).
If you uninstall FieldRecorder, this data is removed with the app. There is no cloud backup performed by us.
3. What we do not collect
- No Codeensis account or login is created or required.
- No audio content is transmitted to Codeensis servers.
- No marker text, project names, or recording metadata is transmitted to Codeensis servers.
- No contacts, location, or photo library access is requested.
4. Optional, opt-in analytics & crash reporting
FieldRecorder includes optional, opt-in support for Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to help us fix bugs and improve the app.
If enabled, Firebase may collect limited, non-personal information such as app version, operating system version, device model, crash stack traces, and aggregated screen views. It does not receive your audio recordings, markers, or note text.
Firebase is a service of Google LLC. Google's privacy practices are described at policies.google.com/privacy.
5. Permissions FieldRecorder asks for
- Microphone — to record audio. Required for the core feature of the app.
- Notifications (Android 13+) — to show the active-recording notification with quick MARK and STOP actions on the lockscreen.
- Foreground service: microphone (Android) — to keep recording reliably while the app is in the background or the screen is locked.
You can revoke any permission at any time in your device's system settings. Without microphone permission, FieldRecorder cannot record.
6. Sharing & export
When you tap Export and choose a destination (Markdown, CSV, SRT, audio, or share sheet), FieldRecorder hands the file to the operating system's standard share interface. From there, you choose where the file goes — that destination is governed by its own privacy policy, not ours.
7. Children
FieldRecorder is a general-purpose audio recorder. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
8. Your rights
Because we do not collect personal data on our servers, there is no Codeensis-side account to access, export, or delete. You can at any time:
- Delete an individual recording from the library — its audio file, markers, and waveform cache are removed from the device.
- Delete a project — recordings inside the project are reassigned to Inbox, never silently lost.
- Export a recording's timeline as Markdown, CSV, or SRT, or export the audio file itself.
- Uninstall FieldRecorder to remove everything.
If you have opted in to analytics or crash reporting and wish to request deletion of associated Firebase records, contact us — we will coordinate with Google's data deletion process on your behalf.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as FieldRecorder evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated "Effective" date above. Continuing to use FieldRecorder after a change means you accept the updated policy.
