DUCTLANE
Terms of Use.
1. Agreement
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Ductlane mobile application ("Ductlane", "the app"), provided by CodeEnsis Ltd. ("we", "our", "us"), Χριστόδουλου Σώζου 2, EIFFEL TOWER, Floor 3, Flat/Office 301, 1096 Λευκωσία, Κύπρος. By installing, accessing or using Ductlane you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. Licence to use the app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Ductlane on devices you own or control, for your own personal or internal business use, subject to these Terms and to the rules of the app store from which you obtained it. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by CodeEnsis Ltd.
3. Reference calculations, not a stamped design or local code
Ductlane calculates duct sizes, equivalent diameters, stock sizes, air velocities, friction rates, pressure along a run and noise ratings from the airflow, lengths, pressures and other values you enter and from built-in typical values. It uses the Darcy–Weisbach equation with the Colebrook friction factor at standard air, following the ASHRAE duct design method. Its results are reference values. They are not an engineered, sealed or stamped design, not a load calculation, not an inspection and not professional or legal advice.
- Results are only as good as the values you enter. Take the fan's external static pressure from the manufacturer's data for your airflow and speed, and take component pressure drops and equivalent lengths of fittings from their published data.
- The noise ratings compare air velocity with typical residential or light-commercial limits built into the app. They are guidance, not a guarantee of how quiet a system will be, and not a requirement of any code.
- Mechanical codes, energy codes and local rules are adopted, amended and interpreted locally. Ductlane does not check compliance with them. Your local authority and, where required, a licensed professional have the final say.
You are solely responsible for the system you design and install and the materials you buy. Check the results before you cut or order.
4. Calculation errors and use at your own risk
Results can be wrong. Ductlane is software, and software has bugs. Errors are possible in its formulas, friction factors, velocity limits, stock-size tables, unit conversions, rounding and air-density corrections. A result can be wrong even when every value you enter is correct. We test the app, but we do not and cannot guarantee that any result is free of errors.
Verify final figures before you rely on them. Treat every result as a first estimate. Before you cut or order duct, size equipment or install a system, check the final figures yourself and confirm them with a qualified HVAC contractor or mechanical engineer and, where required, your local building authority or specialised duct-design software. Where money, safety, health or compliance with rules depends on a figure, do not rely on Ductlane alone.
Not professional advice. Nothing in Ductlane is professional, engineering, financial, tax, legal or other expert advice, and using the app does not create a professional or advisory relationship between you and us.
Your own risk. You use Ductlane and act on its results at your own risk and responsibility. If a result looks wrong to you, please tell us at [email protected] so we can correct it.
5. Your data and backups
Your jobs and history are stored locally on your device (see our Privacy Policy). You are responsible for maintaining your own backups. We are not liable for data lost due to device failure, loss, deletion or app removal.
6. Ductlane Pro: what you are buying
Sizing any duct and one job are free. Pro removes the limit on jobs and unlocks the pressure profile from the fan to the last register, PDF export and air density for altitude and temperature. Pro is offered in three forms:
- Lifetime: a single one-time purchase. It does not renew and is not a subscription.
- Yearly: an auto-renewing subscription billed every twelve months.
- Monthly: an auto-renewing subscription billed every month.
The exact price, currency, billing period and any applicable taxes are shown on the purchase screen inside the app before you confirm, in your local currency as set by the app store. Purchases are processed by Google Play (and by Apple's App Store if an iOS version is released); we never see or handle your payment details.
7. Renewal, cancellation and refunds
For the monthly and yearly subscriptions:
- The subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel it.
- Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the price then shown for your plan.
- You may cancel at any time, but you must do so at least 24 hours before the current period ends to avoid being charged for the next one. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period already paid for; you keep Pro until then.
- Manage or cancel in Google Play › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions on Android, or in Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions on iOS. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Any unused portion of a free trial, where one is offered, is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
The lifetime purchase is charged once and never renews, so there is nothing to cancel. Restoring purchases on a new device is done with "Restore purchases" in the app, using the same Google or Apple account.
Refunds are handled by the store you bought through, under Google's or Apple's refund policies, not by us. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, your statutory withdrawal and refund rights are unaffected by these Terms.
8. Price changes
We may change the price of Pro. A change never affects a lifetime purchase you have already made. For subscriptions, a price increase applies only from a future renewal, and the app store will notify you and, where required, ask for your consent before it takes effect. If you do not accept, cancel before the renewal date.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to reverse-engineer, decompile, resell or misuse the app, remove proprietary notices, or use Ductlane in violation of applicable law.
10. Updates and availability
We may release updates, fixes and new features, and may discontinue features or the app itself at our discretion. Calculation rules, velocity limits and stock-size tables may change with an update, so a saved job can give a different result after one.
11. Intellectual property
Ductlane, including its source code, design, name and logo, is the property of CodeEnsis Ltd. and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Standards and design methods are cited for reference and remain the property of their publishers; their mention does not imply endorsement. The app uses third-party open-source components subject to their respective licences.
12. No warranty
Ductlane is provided "as is" and "as available", with all faults and without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness or non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We make no warranty that calculated sizes, friction rates, pressures, velocities or noise ratings are correct, current, complete or sufficient for any particular system.
We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that its results will meet your requirements. You assume the entire risk as to the quality, accuracy and use of the app and its results.
If you are a consumer, you may have statutory rights that cannot be excluded by contract, for example the rights that apply in the EU and the UK when digital content does not conform to the contract. Nothing in these Terms limits those rights.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall CodeEnsis Ltd., its officers, employees or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, materials bought or wasted, rework, failed inspections, noisy or underperforming systems, damage to property, or decisions made in reliance on Ductlane's output, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the app.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or related to the app shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) ten euro (€10). These limits apply whatever the legal basis of the claim, including contract, tort (including negligence) and statute, even if we were told such loss was possible.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct where the law does not allow it to be limited, and your rights under mandatory consumer protection law.
14. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless CodeEnsis Ltd. and its affiliates from any claim, loss, liability, damage or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of Ductlane, your dealings with your customers, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights or applicable law.
15. Privacy
Your use of Ductlane is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Nicosia, Cyprus shall have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms, except where mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence grants you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
17. App store terms
If you obtained Ductlane through Google Play or the App Store, you also agree to Google's or Apple's terms respectively, including Apple's Standard End User License Agreement where it applies. To the extent of any conflict between these Terms and platform terms, platform terms govern with respect to platform-specific obligations (for example, refunds and in-app purchases). Google and Apple are not parties to these Terms and have no responsibility for the app, but each may enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Ductlane evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated "Effective" date above. Continuing to use Ductlane after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
