We shipped Pawpress today: one daily photo of your pet becomes a magazine-style cover with a mood reading.
Most pet apps default to the feed pattern — endless scroll, social comparison, more dopamine, less keepsake. We wanted the opposite: a slow ritual, one cover per day, saved.
What changed
- One photo a day becomes a magazine cover starring the pet
- Six moods to read against — joyful, dramatic, cozy, mischievous, curious, zen
- No feed, no profile, no follow graph
- Covers live on the device, shareable as plain images
The framing decision that took the longest was treating the cover as a keepsake rather than a post. A post wants engagement; a keepsake wants to be re-opened months later.

Watching whether people come back for tomorrow's cover. For a daily ritual, return rate is the only metric that matters early.
